FAQ - Hazard Identificaton Training Systems (HITS)


Q. What is the HITS training?
A. HITS stands for Hazard Identification Training System. It is a mandatory training course for all contractors at all risk levels at ExxonMobil Torrance Refinery.

Q. Where are the HITS training classes held?
A. At the ExxonMobil Torrance Refinery, Gate 7 Training Trailer.

Q. When is the HITS class scheduled?
A. HITS classes are scheduled Monday's and Tuesday's at 7a.m. unless otherwise specified on line at www.osca.com. During turnarounds, additional classes will be scheduled to facilitate the large number of contractors who will be working at ExxonMobil.

Q. How do I register a student for the HITS?
A. The DER may register for the HITS training on line at www.osca.com or by faxing a HITS registration form to OSCA/ASAP completed and signed by a DER.

Q. What is the check in time for the HITS training?
A. Students must check in at least 30 minutes before the scheduled time with a VALID and current government issued photo ID.

Q. How often do I need to update my HITS training?
A. HITS is required when contractor employees renew their ExxonMobil badge. ExxonMobil requires contractor employees to renew their HITS within 30 days prior to or 7 days after taking the ExxonMobil Contractor Orientation.
