Electrical Insulator Inspection
Description:
This course describes the use and installation of electrical isolating insulators on pipeline facilities. The material includes testing of electrical insulators and repair and replacement of damaged insulators, concerns regarding the casings at various types of road crossings (rail, creek, and road) and includes steps for testing for shorted casings and remedial steps to be taken when shorted casings are discovered. Upon completion of this module the student will be able to state the purpose of pipe casings, list the three categories of casings, state the functions of protective coatings for casings and determine if a reading is indicative of a shorted casing.
